We wished so much that we could have shown all the music videos by Lexington filmmakers, so now... we're going to!

Due to the number of outstanding music video submissions we received from Lexington music video makers, Lexington Film League is putting together a Lex Only screening of the Music Video Showcase. We encourage everyone to come, bring your whole crew (film peeps, friends, and otherwise) and enjoy a really good show.

If you missed the Showcase at Buster's, here's your chance to catch up. If you came to the Showcase at Buster's, there's definitely a lot of videos here you won't want to miss.

The show is Wednesday, June 16th, at Gumbo Ya Ya, 367 E. Main Street, Lexington, KY. The show is open to ALL AGES and is FREE. Gumbo will be available starting at 6p. The show starts at 7p.

MUSIC VIDEO CONTEST & SCREENING

The Lexington Film League solicited music videos nationally and screened top videos, presented awards, and offered a lineup of live music. With thanks to LexArts, we awarded cash prizes in the following 5 categories. The best overall won a cash prizes and received a a slot at Louisville Film Society's Flyover Film Festival during the weekend of June 11-13, 2010. Jurors were Robbie Henson, Arthur Rouse, and Kakie Urch.

DOERS COMMUNITY VIDEO CONTEST SCREENING and AWARDS CEREMONY

An evening of ten featured short films celebrating the filmmakers who took the time to create a collection of inspiring and beautiful stories about different people and organizations within their community.

Cash prizes were awarded; half of which were split between the filmmaker and the non-profit organization of their choice. Jurors for the Grand Prize were George Parker of Lexington Film Society, Michael Benton of Bluegrass Film Society, and Renee Jackson of the Downtown Lexington Corporation. There were over 500 total votes for the People's Choice Award.

WALLPAPER

The Miller House, 832 Lochmere Place, Lexington

WALLPAPER was an exhibition of local and national video artists at the Miller House, the contemporary architectural gem of Lexington. Over a dozen videos were projected throughout the labyrinthine space and attendees were invited to move through the house at their own pace, offering an intimate experience of the work.

$5 Entry Fee, all proceeds from the event benefited Lexington Film League and the Miller House Renovation Fund.

LFL FILMTALK / LAL ARTALK

As a part of the 
Lexington Art League's ARTalk series, the Lexington Film League presented its first FILMTalk.  On Thursday, August 13 at 8:30 pm, almost one hundred people came for an evening of films and discussion by local Kentucky filmmakers including Josh Cannon, Jason Corder, Michael Alden Lloyd, Doreen Maloney, and Edward Trammell. 
The event was FREE and open to the public.  A collaboration with the Lexington Art League and the Louisville Film Society
